Melbourne based designer Dale Hardiman is the co-founder of furniture and object brand Dowel Jones, representing and commissioning platform 1-OK CLUB and collaborative project Friends & Associates.

Hardiman’s practice simultaneously focuses on items of mass-production for Dowel Jones, and singular works under his own name that focus on more conceptual ideas. Hardiman’s theoretical enquiry into design explores the localisation of the production of objects and is manifested in his chosen materials and overall practice.

Hardiman’s personal work is part of the NGV’s permanent collection as well as private collections, and he has worked with galleries and institutions on projects including the National Gallery of Victoria, Sophie Gannon Gallery, Hotel Hotel, 19 Greek Street, MPavilion and Jam Factory.

Hardiman has won numerous awards, including most recently the Vogue Living Lexus Next Award (2016), and Maison & Objet Rising Asian Talent Award (2016).
Hardiman is a graduate of the RMIT Furniture Design course, as well as completing honours in Industrial Design at RMIT.
